Paul was an enomous help to me when I served as assistant provincial. His practical and pastoral approach to canon law served me and the (then) new Western Province very, very well. Any time I consult my copy of the Code I think of him.
I had a few days with him when I helped him make the move from Denver to Perryvillle. It is kind of amazing what you can learn about someone, from someone, when helping him pack and move for what he knew would be the final time. I recall gasping when I read notice of his going into hospice care. I hadn't seen him in a year. And, sadly, wouldn't again. Rest in peace, Paul.
